Chiropractic Helping Runners (video)

Athletes of all sorts push their bodies to the edge of what it can handle to optimize performance and achieve personal bests.  Sometimes when pushed to far for to long problems can develope.  Just like “where there is smoke there is fire” when someone has a problem or better discribed as a dysfunction of the properly functioning body, symptoms may arise.  To me it makes more sense to work on getting rid of the underlying cause of why the symptom is there (like getting rid of the fire to get rid of the smoke) and not just focusing on the symptom.  In the following video I explain some interesting results that a group of runners had when they restored proper function back to their bodies.

I don’t think that it should be that much of a suprise from the information in the video that the runners that got chiropractic care not only started to feel better but also 50% of them recorded personal bests in their run times.  This makes more sense when you have an understanding of exactly what chiropractors do.

Chiropractic is all about restoring proper function to the body, regardless of pain or symptoms.  If the moving bones of your spine were meant to move and because of stress in your life it caused the bones to become stuck together, do you think that that would affect the proper functioning of the body.  Think of the same concept another way.  If you had eight rowers in a row boat and one of the rowers instead of rowing decided to just leave his oar in the water, would you think that the boat would move faster or slower than all eight rowers rowing in unison?  That question is almost an insult to whoever reads it because it is so obvious as to the answer but this same concept can be applied to the logic of how chiropractic works and why it works 100% of the time.

Your brain runs your entire body is a well know fact.  The brain communicates with your body through the nervous system.  Due to an over abudance of stress in your life the bones go out of place and affect the brain body connection and proper spinal mobility, what is called a Subluxation.  Chiropractors are trained to detect and correct Subluxations.  A properly functioning body performs better and has a higher capacity to be healthier than a body that is dysfunctioal.

How do you know if you are subluxated?  Pain and symptoms are a bad way to judge if you have subluxations or not.  Usually when pain and symptoms arise it can be a sign that the subluxation has been present for a long period of time.  This is why having your spine and nervous system checked on a regular basis for subluxations should be a part of a healthy lifestyle, just like eating a healthy diet and exercising.  You don’t only brush your teeth when they are sore, you do it to keep them healthy.  The same goes for your spine and nervous system.

At Fish Creek Chiropractic, your Calgary Chiropractor, we are happy to make sure that you and your families spine and nervous system is working properly.  If you are currently getting checked regularly that is great, keep it up.  If you are not, give us a call and we will get you started.  403 271 7224
